What not to forget for your winter holidays in Chamonix

December 26th

A holiday in Chamonix Mont-Blanc sounds like a dream, doesn't it? Waking up facing the snow-capped peaks, enjoying a hot chocolate under a blanket, hurtling down the ski slopes, and doing all the activities the valley has to offer... It's the ideal programme! But for everything to be perfect, you still have to remember nothing.

Don't worry, we have prepared a short list of essentials for your winter vacation in Chamonix so that you can leave with peace of mind and fully enjoy your stay.

Snow tires or chains required

If you come to Chamonix by car, you must ensure that your car is equipped with compliant snow tires. If this is not the case, remember to bring suitable chains to drive safely on snowy roads. With this equipment, goodbye to unpleasant car surprises.

All beautiful, but always warm

Braving the cold while being stylish is possible! You just need the essentials to protect yourself from low temperatures. Opt for thermal underwear and insulated pants to keep your legs and sensitive areas warm.

Remember to take a waterproof ski jacket and equip yourself with gloves, hat and scarf to beat the cold while remaining fashionable.

And don't forget suitable socks (polyester, lurex, acrylic wool, etc.) and well-closed shoes, so your toes don't freeze.

A first aid kit

It is essential, wherever you go, to take a first aid kit. Indeed, you are never safe from a small virus or a small skiing accident. Here is what we advise you to put in your kit: basic medicines such as painkillers (paracetamol, aspirin, etc.), anti-inflammatories (ibuprofen, ketoprofen, etc.) but also throat lozenges in case of sore throat.

Finally, it is important to always have with you, along with the first aid kit, sunscreen and lip balm. Even if it may not seem obvious, the sun can be very intense in the mountains: protect your face and lips.

Please note, always check that you are not allergic to the medication you are taking and that you respect the doses indicated on the leaflet.

Essentials for family activities

Who says vacation also says relaxation. And after a big day on the slopes, rest and relaxation are well deserved. For this, we recommend that you take in your suitcase, a warm blanket for a little cocooning evening, board games, a deck of cards and even books.

Equipment to take or rent on site

If you are planning a sporting activity during your stay, it is essential to equip yourself properly.

For skiing and snowboarding, make sure you have a helmet, goggles, technical gloves and socks that fit your ski or snowboard boots. These simple but essential pieces of equipment can save your life in the event of a fall.

In the valley, many specialist shops offer ski rental, snowboards, suitable shoes, helmet, poles, and all the equipment necessary for these activities.

Chamonix Mont-Blanc is not only the ideal destination for skiing, but also for enjoying magnificent hikes. If you want to explore the valley, remember to take walking poles, a backpack, your first aid kit, a water bottle, and a thermos to warm you up on the way.

the mountain snowy also offers an essential activity to share with the family: sledding! Don't hesitate to bring one or rent one on site in the valley.

Little extras not to forget in your backpack
